What is Brow Lamination?

Ever look at someone’s eyebrows and ask yourself: how can they achieve those perfectly filled feathery arches? You badly want to know what magical brow gels they are using or, if by some miracle—is it natural?

Here’s the secret: brow lamination. This new trend is the latest treatment that brow enthusiasts and influencers can’t stop talking about. Imagine the relief of not having to pluck, trim, and draw on your brows every time you go out. You’ll save so much time and money you spend just for your brows alone with this treatment.

So, if you want to have full-looking arches with minimal effort and maintenance (or if you’re still not ready for the commitment that microblading entails), then brow lamination might be for you.

Wait a minute. What EXACTLY is brow lamination?

Before you book that appointment, let’s have a quick briefer about brow lamination to guide you about the process, materials, and aftercare that you need when you undergo this treatment.

Brow lamination is simply a perm for your brows. It smooths out your precious arches in non-invasive ways and lifts them to a vertical direction—giving it a fuller look. In just an hour (or less), you can achieve dramatic brow results, one that you can flaunt effortlessly even with your no-makeup makeup look.

Does the process involve needles?

No. Even if microblading and lamination seem to produce similar results, brow lamination maximizes the use of a setting lotion that keeps your arches lifted for weeks. It is a gentler alternative for microblading—which (obviously) needs the needles.

The best part? It’s painless.

What if I have untamed brows? Will the lamination process still work?

There are no brows too unkempt for lamination.

Brows are often pesky and unruly. Because they grow in bonds, it can be harder to style them and keep them up. Brow lamination uses a lifting cream that breaks down these bonds. This process makes it easier to move them in a direction or look that you want.

After applying the cream, brushing comes next. In this part, your brows are strategically swept upwards while a neutralizing cream is applied. The magic happens here—where the brows are molded and take on the shape you want by filling in the small gaps and defining your brows’ arches and tails. It can also be tinted, waxed, or even based on Cara Delevigne’s bushy brows.

It can be a little taxing for your brows with all the products and tweezing, but don’t worry! Moisturizing is the last step of the process. Brow experts apply nourishing oils to re-hydrate your brow area and prevent dryness from all the products used in the treatment.

What’s the catch?

Brow lamination is a simple and effective way to redefine your arches the way you want them to look. But it is still, in itself, a chemical process. Therefore, the products used during the procedure can damage your eyebrow and its surrounding area.

There is the possible irritation of your eyelid skin, which is the thinnest skin of the body. Since it is near the brow area, the products used during the lamination can make it vulnerable to skin allergies and inflammation. The same applies to the eye itself.

Given these risks, it emphasizes the importance of picking a reliable brow expert to do your brow lamination and guide you through the aftercare routine. After all, it’s not just about making your brows pretty, but healthy and moisturized as well.

What about brow lamination aftercare?

You can expect your feathery eyebrows to last for 4-6 weeks. But no good thing lasts without proper care.

Keeping your brows healthy after the treatment is a lot more like taking care of your lashes post lash lift. Remember: even if the lamination treatment is non-invasive, it still involves a chemical process. It exposes your brow area to breakage and brittleness, especially if you have sensitive skin.

Thus, aftercare is just as significant as the lamination process to maintain those fabulous brows. Here are some tips you can follow to post-brow lamination:

First and foremost, leave your brows dry for the first 24 hours of the treatment. Don’t touch, rub, and most importantly—don’t get them wet. Avoid steaming and excessive moisture during baths or showers because it can interfere with the lamination process and affect your desired brow shape.

The first 24 hours after the procedure is the most important to ensure its longevity. But after that, it’s pretty much easy and low maintenance. Just brush your brows daily, apply gentle moisturizers and brow conditioners to nourish and protect your arches—and you’re good to go. You can now wake up every day to the same perfectly brushed-up brows you had yesterday for a good two months.

Is brow lamination worth it?

If you have unruly brows that could take forever to tame and style, then laminating them can save you a good 10 minutes of fixing and trimming during your morning routine. It’s the most efficient way of getting to fill the gaps in your arches in the most natural look. Plus points for saving you from the frustration of balancing which brow looks fuller or lighter than the other. Just imagine the liberation of not worrying about getting your eyebrows done even if you’re just out for some errands or grocery runs?

Brow lamination is usually low maintenance. However, the case can differ for those who have sensitive skin. Don’t let this stop you. You have to find the right esthetician for you—one who uses gentler products to reduce the risks of over processing and irritating your brows.

Last thing: Avoid DIY-ing. Sensitive skin or not, it’s always a good thing to trust a reputable cosmetologist with your beauty fix!

...I  was nervous getting eye lash extension after my last experience with a different lash technician but Dee has changed my outlook. Not only does she make my eyes look beautiful but I went to the eye doctor awhile back and half way through my exam my Dr noticed I had extensions. She was impressed with the quality and how they were not effecting my eyes. She was also very impressed with the amount of information I knew about cleaning them because Dee educated me on how to do so and what the risks were if I did not. I also really liked how Dee did a consultation with me my first visit to make sure eye lash extension were safe for me. Couldn't be happier with the services Dee provides!

I’ve been a long term client of Dee’s Lashes. I truly can say there is no other better lash artist I’ve been with. She caters to specifically your needs and I’m a really hard client, my eyes would flutter, they’re really deep set and tight, my natural lashes are super short and grow in separate directions! and yet somehow she puts her magic to work and make them look phenomenal each and every time, with absolutely no discomfort. She never makes me feel rushed. I enjoy how we listen to podcasts, or I knock out with a deep nap. Dee truly shines and gives her clients a luxury experience . I get compliments all the time with the Swarovski crystals she lays down and it’s the best little sparkle to my day! I love her and her work, and I can confidently say you would as well!

Amazing experience getting the brows and lashes of my dreams!! Dee is not only detailed and a perfectionist, she is also very thorough with her work. She doesn't rush and really takes the time to involve and educate you about the process and after care as well. I have had horrible experiences at other lash salons and I can honestly say this is by the far the most comfortable lash extentions I have ever had...my eyebrow lamination looks perfect and so even because of the eyebrow mapping method used..they look so proportionate which is amazing considering how uneven my eyebrows naturally are.. will be going back regularly! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!
